The first "Dishonored" title was headlined by former bodyguard turned assassin Corvo Attano. He is set to return in "Dishonored 2," but will this be his last?

As the release date for the much-awaited stealth adventure game draws near, there are speculations that Corvo will die in "Dishonored 2," effectively passing on the torch to his daughter and co-protagonist Emily Kaldwin.

According to Twinfinite, there are some evidences pointing to this possibility. Up until recently, Arkane Studios has only ever showcased Emily's gameplay in trailers and major conferences, showing off her new abilities and different play styles.

The developer looks like it's keen on pushing Emily to be the next face of the "Dishonored" franchise.

Arkane and Bethesda have released a gameplay trailer for Corvo this week, which finally showcases Corvo's abilities in action, Eurogamer reported. Corvo returns with his old abilities from the first "Dishonored," albeit with some new tweaks.

The new trailer, however, contains another evidence that points to Corvo's impending demise. At the beginning of the footage, Corvo said, "One more time, old friend," which to some is a huge death flag for the character.

In any case, players will get to choose between Corvo and Emily in "Dishonored 2," but it is not yet made clear when and how the two characters will interact in the game.

If Corvo were to die in the game, he knows that the fate of the world, and the franchise, is safe with Emily, and his legacy will be passed on to the rightful person.

"Dishonored 2" is set fifteen years after the events of the first "Dishonored," in the beautiful city of Karnaca. Emily is suddenly removed from her throne as Empress by an "otherworldly usurper," and becomes an outlaw to society.

"Dishonored 2" will be released on Nov. 11 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
