Electronic Arts is preparing for the deployment of its much awaited World War I-themed shooter "Battlefield 1" next month, and has already announced a map update for December.

"Battlefield 1" will be getting a brand new map a month after its official release, according to a post on the official "Battlefield" Twitter page. The map, called Giant's Shadow, will be set in 1918, during the Battle of the Selle. The new area is said to "move out of the trenches and into open country."

The map will be available to all players as part of a free December update. However, those who have pre-ordered "Battlefield 1" will get to experience the map earlier, granting seven days early access to Giant's Shadow, as well as some Battlepacks and other goodies, PlayStation Lifestyle reported.

In a move that will keep fans busy while waiting for "Battlefield 1"'s release date, EA announced that all expansion packs for "Battlefield 4" can be downloaded at no extra cost. The team is also throwing in a few Community Missions which will earn players Gold Battlepacks upon completion.

The expansions are only free to download from Sept. 14 to Sept. 19. The Community Missions will also be available between these dates.
