A new game from the "Dangan Ronpa" series, "New Dangan Ronpa V3," will be launched in Japan next year.
The new trailer was showcased by Spike Chunsoft at this year's Playstation Conference in Japan, and it looks like fans will be meeting a brand new set of quirky but interesting characters.
The game will also feature a female protagonist, Kaede Akamatsu, Twinfinite reported. This will be the first time that the main game will feature a female lead, with Makoto Naegi and Hajime Hinata heading "Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc" and "Dangan Ronpa 2: Goodbye Despair," respectively.
According to the official "Dangan Ronpa" wiki page, the game will have a completely different storyline from the first two games, and will now be set in a new school called "Gifted Inmates Academy." It is also implied that the game is set in the future, after the events of the currently running "Dangan Ronpa" series.
A quick peek at the gameplay will show improvements in graphics from the first games, although the mechanics look pretty much the same. The new class trials are expected to be much more fast paced than its predecessors.
The game will be released on PlayStation 4, a first for the "Dangan Ronpa" series. The title will also be released on the PlayStation Vita.
"New Dangan Ronpa V3" is slated for a Japanese release in January next year. There is still no announcement for a western release, although this will be highly likely, as the first two main games and the spinoff "Dangan Ronpa: Ultra Despair Girls" already made their way stateside.
Meanwhile, the "Dangan Ronpa" animated series "Dangan Ronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy" is still ongoing, with both "Future Arc" and "Despair Arc" reaching its climax with a few more episodes to go.
Stay tuned for more "Dangan Ronpa" news.
