After a long wait, first-person shooter-slasher gorefest "Shadow Warrior 2" will finally be launched in October.
Created by Poland-based developer Flying Wild Hog and published by Devolver Digital, the "Doom"-like shooter game will be making its way to gamers soon. But what exactly is "Shadow Warrior 2?"
"Shadow Warrior 2" is the direct sequel to the 2013 reboot of the original 1997 "Shadow Warrior." The game is set five years after the events of the first game, and will again take control of ninja warrior Lo Wang in his quest to protect the world from the demons under Zilla command.
The game also boasts a huge arsenal of weapons - seventy, to be exact - and all are fully customizable, according to MobiPicker. Players can choose between a wide array of weapons and customize them the way you want, which can result in some bizarre combinations, like chain-swords, for example.
Another thing unique to this shooter is that the stages are procedurally-generated, and everything will be completely random.
Despite the comparison to popular shooter "Doom," "Shadow Warrior 2" writer and narrative designer Slawomir Uliasz insists that it is not trying to become a "Doom" clone.
"So most of us played the original 'Doom' and I can say I was raised on 'Doom' and 'Wolfenstein' as my first FPS games," Uliasz told Gamespot earlier this year. "So I'm flattered we were compared to 'Doom'."
"On the other hand, 'Shadow Warrior 2' is not 'Doom' and it's not aiming to be 'Doom', 'Call of Duty', or 'Battlefield', as good as those games may be."
On the game's hero Lo Wang, Uliasz said, "He's more of a joker, more of a devil, and he simply cannot take anything too seriously. So that's why he comments when he's attacking, or why he's a douchebag sometimes. He's not a perfect hero."
"Shadow Warrior 2" will be out on Steam, GOG, and Humble on Oct. 13. The PS4 and Xbox One release is slated for an early 2017 launch.
