Respawn Entertainment has responded to the community's major feedback following its open technical test for "Titanfall 2" on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 last weekend.
While most gaming sites were impressed by this weekend's "Titanfall 2" tech test, the rest of the community were not exactly blown away by the game, and were left feeling underwhelmed with the game's offerings.
According to Kotaku, most of the negative feedback came from the players of the first "Titanfall," stating that they were not able to use their Titans as often compared to the original title.
This criticism stemmed from "Titanfall 2"'s kill based system, which builds up slower compared to the original's time based mechanic.
"We made some changes in Titanfall 2 with the goal of rewarding players for playing game mode objectives," "Titanfall 2"'s Multiplayer Game Designer Steven DeRose explained on the Titanfall website. "However, we observed the problem that players can try to play the objective but fail, resulting in slower than intended Titan acquisition."
Respawn took this feedback onboard and announced that the kill based system will be overhauled to incorporate a bit of the time based system seen in the first "Titanfall," which means that players will still get a small amount of Titan meter as the time passes.
The developer will also make players more mobile both on ground and in their Titans, and said that Titan dashes will be tweaked so it will recharge faster.
New maps will also be showcased in the next couple of weeks, and promised a wide variety of maps come "Titanfall 2"'s launch date.
Due to the perceived failure of the "Titanfall 2" tech test, some fans have called out to Respawn to actually delay its October release date to further improve the game.
Game Informer also pointed out that other giant shooters which will be released around the same time as "Titanfall 2" like EA's other shooter "Battlefield 1," as well as other highly anticipated titles such as "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" and "Gears of War 4."
Despite the Internet backlash, Respawn is keen on working on the feedback received from the recently concluded tech test with no delays on the release date in sight.
"We look forward to hearing what you think about the updates coming for weekend two of the tech test, and can't wait to see you all on the Frontier this October," the game designer said, thus ending the statement with a guarantee that "Titanfall 2" is still going ahead with its original October 28 release date.
