Fans are eagerly waiting for the awaited update of the original Apple wearable, the Apple Watch 2. Consumers are also looking forward to the Samsung's Gear S3 that directly competes the former. Which one will win the consumers' approval and purchase?

Aside from smartphones and tablets, wearables have also became one of the two mobile giants' concerns. The original Apple Watch and the Samsung Gear S2 had a close fight way back 2015 with matching pros and cons.

This time, each company is doing their best to make their wearables stand out in the competition by integrating features never before seen on prior models.

Regarding the Apple Watch 2, GQ reported that rumors indicated its release date very soon. Insiders and communities expect the Apple Watch 2 to be revealed in the upcoming event on September 7.

Samsung hinted an August 31 release, but this may be taken with a grain of salt as there had been no particulars in its official tweet. Theories also indicated dates between September 2 to 7.

One advantage of the Apple Watch 2 is its built-in GPS chip as opposed to its absence in the Samsung Gear S3. This is based off the most recent rumors and specs collected through a number of sources and information from various insiders.

This will eliminate the need for bringing iPhones when going for walks or for gym purposes. Techradar speculated that it won't surpass that of a Fitbit Surge, but it would be better to have the feature instead of not having any at all.

The Samsung Gear S3, however, might have the upper hand in terms of battery performance. There's no definite information regarding the Apple Watch's battery capacity yet, but iGalaxys7 reported that the Gear S3 will have more battery capacity than its predecessor.

Before, the Apple Watch had 205mAh capacity that lasted for roughly a day, while the Gear S2 had 250mAh that can stand up in about three days.

Samsung is doubling the battery capacity for the Samsung Gear S3 and hopefully, not without sacrificing the size factor.

In terms of other features, everything should be at par with each other like performance, display resolution, improved waterproofing capabilities, and better software.

No official price announcements have been made yet for both models, but we can expect some solid information soon, which is one of the biggest factor in deciding which one to get between the two.
