Action-filled 3D brawler fans have a new reason to celebrate New Year with a bang. The year 2025 promises a great deal for fans as The Hidden Ones, previously Hitori no Shita: The Outcast, is ready for release by Tencent's Morefun Studios.

Based on the very popular webcomic Hitori no Shita, it's no surprise that the game was in development for so long, and now the juicy details are coming about features, story, and mechanics.

The Hidden Ones is Not Hidden Anymore

After a prolonged period of silence, the game formerly known as Hitori no Shita has adopted a new title. Called The Hidden Ones, this game is still in development and set to drop sometime in 2025, according to Final Weapon.

A pre-alpha test in January, however, is set up for Morefun Studios in the lead-up to full release to give players an idea of the gameplay and mechanics of the final product.

Modern China Setting Will Leave Fans Wanting For More

At its core, The Hidden Ones follows Zhang Chulan, a young martial artist living in modern-day China. The story takes an interesting twist when Zhang learns that the martial arts techniques passed down from his grandfather are highly coveted by various factions in the martial arts world.

Unfortunately for him, rejecting these parties' advances is not an option, and he is soon thrust into a world of danger and power struggles.

Besides Zhang, the main character, the game also develops Wang Ye, the secondary protagonist, while joining the action. Against the backdrop of a rough, modern-day Chinese city, characters set the film for immersion into the story.

Some Stunning Gameplay Features

One of the best things that can be gleaned about The Hidden Ones is the excellent gameplay it appears to bring, as illustrated in the latest trailer released.

Players can expect much martial arts combat action when the game is out in the markets, coupled with energy projectiles and brawling mechanics that action RPG players would be accustomed to.

The game is anticipated to deliver high-speed chases acrobatics and parkour-infused dashing. This allows dash across rooftops and dodge incoming projectiles while maintaining fluid movements.

Combat will involve much dodging and counterattacks, so there is that layer of strategy to fast-paced fighting. All of this combined with the lively environments will surely attract the eye of action game enthusiasts.

A Dark Aesthetic From Usual 3D RPG

Its aesthetics differ from other 3D action RPGs as the game's visuals seem much grittier and much more grounded than many other 3D action RPGs of this genre, thus allowing for a darker and really much more immersive experience.

Far from being hyper-realistic, the art style introduces this tension and danger into gameplay that matches the game, high-stakes martial arts, and survival theme well.

While the source material has its fan base, attracting players not familiar with Hitori no Shita might be an issue for Morefun Studios, according to PocketGamer.

The game's success depends on whether it can reach a wider audience and carve out a space in the already saturated 3D brawlers and action RPG market. The Hidden Ones will surely impress fans of the original webcomic and new players by providing engaging mechanics, an interesting story, and an intense visual style.

With its great gameplay, engaging storyline, and new combat mechanics, The Hidden Ones is turning out to be one of the most anticipated games of 2025.

It's better if you have read the original webcomic, but if you have the hunger to play an action-packed brawler game, this is definitely one of the choices you should add to your books.
