Legendary dragon-type Regidrago is back to Pokémon Go this time. Two weeks ago, we discussed a little information on how to defeat Lugia in the five-star raid.

Now, we will also share with you important details on how you can counter this titan. Here's how you can defeat it.

Regidrago's Origins and Latest Appearance

According to ScreenRant, the first appearance of this creature is in Pokémon Sword & Shield: The Crown Tundra along with its electric-type cousin, Regieleki. They belong to the famous Titan family of legends, which contains Regirock, Registeel, and Regice.

In Pokémon Go, Regidrago first appeared in Elite Raids in March 2023. Now, it returns for the Max Out Finale event running from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1, 2024, marking its shiny debut in standard five-star raids.

Exploiting Regidrago's Weaknesses

To defeat Regidrago, exploit its weaknesses with dragon-, fairy-, and ice-type moves. While dragon-types are great counters, they do come with a risk, since Regidrago is a dragon-type, which means its dragon-type attacks are super effective.

Top Counters for Regidrago

Here are the best Pokémon to use against Regidrago.

Best Counters:

  • Mega Gardevoir: Charm, Dazzling Gleam
  • Dialga: Dragon Breath, Draco Meteor
  • Palkia: Dragon Tail, Draco Meteor
  • Enamorus: Fairy Wind, Dazzling Gleam
  • Garchomp: Dragon Tail, Outrage
  • Galarian Darmanitan: Ice Fang, Avalanche
  • Mamoswine: Powder Snow, Avalanche
  • Togekiss: Charm, Dazzling Gleam

Honorable Mentions:

  • Zacian (Crowned Sword): Quick Attack/Snarl, Play Rough
  • Weavile: Ice Shard, Avalanche
  • Hatterene: Charm, Dazzling Gleam
  • Glaceon: Ice Shard/Frost Breath, Avalanche

Pro Tip: Use Dialga, as it's one of the few dragon types resistant to Regidrago's dragon attacks. An Origin Forme Dialga is even better.

Preparing for Raids

Polygon reports some important tips before you dive into Regidrago's den.

Team Composition: If you do not have the best counters, assemble a team of your best dragon, fairy, and ice types with moves that target Regidrago's weaknesses.

Raid Group Size: A minimum of five high-level trainers is recommended for this five-star raid boss. The bigger the group, the better your chances.

Weather Boosts: Use weather boosts to power up specific attack types:

  • Windy weather powers up dragon-type moves.
  • Cloudy weather powers up fairy-type moves.
  • Snow increases the power of ice-type attacks.

Moveset and Utility of Regidrago

At a legendary level, Regidrago is underwhelming in both PvE and PvP. It does not have a fast move from the dragon type and boasts an Attack stat that isn't much better than others of the same type.

  • Recommended Moveset for Raids/Gyms: Bite, Breaking Swipe (STAB).
  • Recommended Moveset for Trainer Battles: Bite, Breaking Swipe, Outrage.

As of now, Regidrago works more as Pokédex filler than any serious battler.

Is Shiny Regidrago Available?

Yes, Shiny Regidrago made its debut during the Max Out Finale event in November 2024. This Shiny rates are higher in raids than in the wild so participating in raids offers your best chance to encounter this rare variant. However, unlike other appealing Shinies, its Shiny variant is quite bland.

Soon, you can catch this Pokemon teeming with Dragon Energy. You can add it to your team and destroy other trainers who will come on your way.
