Before iOS 18, we had iOS 17 which introduced exciting features to your iPhone, including contact card customization enhancements.
With this, you can personalize your contact poster by going for a photo, a Memoji, or even a monogram, giving that little extra to what your friends and family see when you ring them.
Why You Need to Upgrade to iOS 17 or iOS 18
If you have any of the compatible versions of iPhones, then iOS 17 is ready for download and has a fair share of functionalities that you may find in your iPhone.
Among others, one thing it has is the new contact card, allowing users to personalize through more than merely a standard poster for contacts. Here is how you do this in simple steps.
How to Configure Your Personalized Contact Poster for the iPhone
Follow these super-easy steps to make an individual contact poster on your iPhone:
- Launch the Phone app on your iPhone. Tap on the Contacts tab.
- Tap on your name at the top of the list. Below it, it will read My Card.
- You ought to see an option in there that's called Contact Photo & Poster — tap on that.
You will then be taken to a preview screen offering four options:
- Camera (Capture a new photo)
- Photos (Select from your library)
- Memoji (Use or create a custom Memoji)
- Monogram (Display initials)
Customize Your Selection
If you select Memoji, you will be allowed to use a pre-canned Memoji or to create one. You can also take advantage of depth effect options to make your Memoji appear to be in the foreground while your text is in the background, or vice versa.
Select Photos
Choose a new one or pick an existing from your gallery. In case you're choosing Monogram, just type the initials you'd like. You need to enter at least two characters.
Preview Your Poster
Once you're satisfied with your personalization, preview what your contact poster would look like. If you're good to go with the output, tap Continue.
Change Your Contact Photo
You can now crop the picture that you chose for your poster so that it fits into the contact photo. The contact photo is the image that appears when you are messaging with this person.
Save and Finalize
Now that you have adjusted the contact photo, tap Done at the top right side of your screen. Your new personalized contact poster is ready!
Can You Make Contact Posters for Friends?
You can customize a contact poster for any contact. To do that, you just click on the person's name in your Contacts list and follow the same procedure above. This way, you can customize for your loved ones, including the control over how their name and all the details appear when they call.
