If you have lost an iPhone or anything while traveling, the gadget you would be looking for is Apple's AirTag - designed to help you find your belongings, from electronic devices at home to luggage during travel.
As AirTag uses Bluetooth combined with the strength of location services, it can easily keep track of misplaced things and find itself quite seamlessly integrated into the Apple ecosystem.
In this guide, we will go through the whole process of setting up your AirTag and get more use out of it.
Setting Up Your AirTag on iPhone or iPad
This process is easy to do. How you do this will depend upon which device you have: iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 14.5 or later or iPad with iPadOS 14.5 or later. You cannot set up one using a Mac but once linked to an Apple ID, you can control it from your macOS. Here's how to set up your AirTag:
- Enable Bluetooth and Internet: Make sure your iPhone or iPad has Bluetooth enabled and internet access available.
- Unpack the AirTag: Open the plastic wrap from the AirTag. It will turn on automatically and will beep.
- Bring devices closer: Keep your iDevice close to the AirTag
- Connect the AirTag: It will pop up a dialog box. Tap the "Connect" button.
- Name Your AirTag: Choose the name from the list, or type a custom name. Tap Continue when you're finished.
- Register to Apple ID: You're told that the AirTag will also register to your Apple ID. Tap Continue.
Installation is now done. Once you successfully installed it, you will find the present location of AirTag along with an overview of what you can do with the device. Tap "Done" or "View in Find My."
AirTag is listed under Items in categories across all your Apple devices, like iPhones, iPads, iPods, Macs, and Apple Watches.
