As the fourth quarter of 2016 draws closer, consumers who have been waiting for more rumors and updates on Microsoft Surface Pro 5 have become more eager for solid news.

While past reports have hinted that the fifth generation device will be out before this year ends, the latest updates have been saying otherwise - pointing out that it will only be available by 2017.

Considering that the third quarter of 2016 is about to end soon, here are several details that we have known, so far.

Release Date

Based on the Twitter post of Shubhan Chembukar, it is very likely that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will come out by 2017.

As reported by Yibada, there is a possibility that the release date of the new device will be announced by October this year, but its availability will only start by March 2017.

If there is truth to this speculation, this must not dampen the spirit of consumers since this may connote that a Redstone update is guaranteed. Furthermore, the possibility of having the Kaby Lake as its processor will be higher as well.

This was supported by Christian Times which pointed out that the delay of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date can be attributed to the company's decision to follow the timeline of Intel's seventh generation processor.

Processor

By running on Kaby Lake processor, it is expected that the upcoming device from Microsoft will be bragging about certain improvements.

Accordingly, this upgrade will bring in more power to the hybrid laptop's overall performance, while improving its battery life.

Display

According to Vine Report, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be available in two different displays - 2K and 4K.

Although the 4K display will only be used for the high-end variant, it was noted that both display options will come with the latest Gorilla Glass panel.
