A few months ago, in December, the popular game Grand Theft Auto III made its debut to Android and iOS devices, delivering the same classic game experience, including cut scenes and the iconic radio stations, but adapted for touchscreens. At $5, the game was a hit with mobile gamers, even though it has some tricky controls.

Now, developer Rockstar aims to accomplish the same success with its Max Payne game, coming soon to mobile devices. Max Payne will be released on April 12 for iOS devices and on April 26 for Android devices. The popular game will have all of the original levels and content, but will feature enhanced graphics for mobile devices. Controls will be adapted for touchscreens as well, and users will have the option of customizing the layout if they don't like the defaults.

In addition to touchscreen controls similar to other third-person shooters on Android and iOS devices, the HD revamping will include a high definition enhancement for textures. Players will also have the option to link to the Rockstar Social Network.

No Word Yet on Pricing & Supported Android Devices

Rockstar has yet to announce pricing details and to offer a list of Android devices supported. iOS devices supported include the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 4, and all three generations of the iPad. The price is expected to be in the same range as GTA III's retail price, especially considering that the game is 11 years old. Developer Beamdog, for instance, considers that charging more than $10 for its 1998 game Baldur's Gate would be "crazy," as COO Cameron Tofer stated.

Meanwhile, a third installment in the Max Payne series is also coming soon: come March 15, the game will be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well. The action in Max Payne III is set eight years after the events in Mac Payne II and in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and it seems to be quite a radical change from previous versions.
