Good news awaits "Sons of Anarchy" fans. Show creator Kurt Sutter teased that the "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff "Mayans MC" is close to premiering on FX.
"The return is near," Sutter posted on Twitter alongside a photo of Emilio Rivera.
According to International Business Times, the new spin-off will focus on the Mayans instead of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original (SAMCRO). Notably, The Mayans were SAMCRO's biggest rival before Charlie Hunnam negotiated a truce between the parties.
In addition, Sutter has also hinted at "dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the most American of icons, the 1% outlaw, this time reflected through a Latino lens," reported Inquisitr.
Elgin James, who was responsible for writing the script, suggests that the new spinoff will start off after the events unfolded in "Sons of Anarchy". As such, this means that Hunnam might not appear in the show at startoff, but might reprise his role in the prequel.
Notably, the prequel will be focusing on the origins of SAMCRO and might feature Hunnam's early days with MC. However, Hunnam might still decline the offer, despite his role.
According to MNR Daily, Hunnam's relationship with Sutter wasn't the healthiest. "Kurt and I never blasted each other in the face," he shared. "But, I will say it got close."
Moreover, Sutter and FX are yet to agree on the prequel. Additionally, even if Sutter manages to convince FX about the possible release, he doesn't envision it going beyond the first season.
Thus, Sutter is reportedly planning on 10 to 12 episodes for the first season, which could change depending on the show's ratings.
However, there has been no confirmation from FX that they will be airing the prequel. It seems fans will have to stay tuned to FX schedule to know if the show will finally hit the TV or not.
