Charlie Hunnam reportedly dropped out of "Pacific Rim 2" as Raleigh Becket. As a result, Scott Eastwood is rumored to step in to replace the actor. Could this latest report be of any truth?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film producers and Eastwood are under negotiations. However, it is still unconfirmed if he will replace Hunnam on the highly-anticipated installment.
The speculations became more plausible because the latter has not confirmed as well if he would reprise his role. It was noted that the actor is known for dropping films in order to portray another role.
The "Sons of Anarchy" actor had famously backed out from "Fifty Shades of Grey" in order to work on "Pacific Rim" back in 2014, noted Game N Guide. It is still unclear whether he will do the same as he starts shooting scenes on "The Lost City of Z."
He just wrapped up filming "Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur" and reports suggested that he got too much on his plate.
Meanwhile, "Star Wars" actor John Boyega will also star in the upcoming sci-fi motion picture. As per Collider, Boyega will portray Stacker Pentecost's son.
While nothing much has been revealed about the film, another The Hollywood Reporter article previously revealed that the release date has been moved.
Universal Studios first slated the film for a summer 2017 release, but it has been moved to Feb. 23, 2018. The reason is to further develop the film.
Aside from Boyega, "Spartacus" and "Daredevil" season 1 showrunner Steven S. Knight reportedly confirmed his involvement as director, replacing Guillermo Del Torro, the original man behind "Pacific Rim." Stay tuned for more updates on the sequel.
