As fans of the Z series models have continued to speculate on what to expect with Sony Xperia Z6, a recent update hinted that its release date has been finally set.

After rumors claiming that the device will no longer arrive, the latest news might have just left mobile users, especially those who are fond of playing games on their PlayStation consoles, giddy and excited.

However, it may take a while before their excitement can finally be satisfied.

According to NSEA Voice, the Android smartphone from the Japanese tech giant is now being developed, contrary to speculations that Sony Xperia Z3 will no longer come.

While mobile users may have to wait a little longer, the report assured that the highly-anticipated flagship unit from Sony's Z series will be packed with awesome specifications, including some "revolutionary" features.

One major feature that will be loaded in the upcoming unit will be its capability to serve as a controller to the VR headsets of the PlayStation gaming console.

Meanwhile, it can be recalled that back in February, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Sony Mobile Jun Makino reportedly revealed during an interview with uSwitch that Sony Xperia Z6 is no longer arriving.

"I can't comment on the future, but we will not be releasing a Z6," he shared, while reportedly emphasizing that "there will not be a Z6," and the company's direction has been shifted.

According, Sony is "turning to the next stage, with the Xperia X series."

In the meantime, Motoring Crunch reported that the company might have just "quietly killed off" the fans' Z6 dream.

The report pointed out that amidst the theory that Sony could have been working on the "more impressive model" of Z series, it came out that the company is reportedly focusing on the X series instead.

With the uncertainty of the 2017 Sony Xperia Z6 release date, the company has yet to comment.
