The AMD Radeon RX 480 video graphics card generated a lot of buzz with its pricing and specs. It may not be as fast as Nvidia's 1000-series GPU card and its performance may not too great, it remains effective as it provides VR compatibility and low power consumption unit at a low price.

The Verge reported that the AMD Radeon RX 480 is Polaris' first GPU architecture, which has been manufactured to provide radically improved performance and HDR displays with the help of 14nm FinFET production process. The RX 480 uses a full Polaris 10 GPU with enabled 36 CUs. The card also features 2304 stream processors, 5.7 billion transistors, and 5.8 teraflops for computing performance levels.

Further, the AMD Radeon RX 480 card sports 32 ROPs in the backend paired with 2 MB of L2 cache. The increased cache space will thus help the video card to cut power consumption in the devices. The AMD card features a 4 GB or 8 GB of VRAM i.e. two capacity slots for the RX 480 version. The main reason behind the two capacity cards is stated to be AMD's goal to hit the mainstream card market with a product justifying the price.

In addition, the Radeon RX 480 video card from AMD features a double-wide and blower-style design, which is actually 9.5-inch long. The card also provides the user with various connectivity options like 3 Display Ports and an HDMI port. The Display Port supports 1.3 and 1.4 standards with HBR3 signaling mode and full HDR support. Meanwhile, the HDMI 2.0b port offers 4Kp60 support along with HDR.

The AMD Radeon RX 480 video card is available for two different prices based on its VRAM capacities. The 4 GB card has been made available at $199 whereas the 8 GB card is priced at $239, having extra memory frequency and capacity.

The video card can be said to be a budget-priced card that has the capability to perform equally well when compared to the other GPUs available in the market.
