Blizzard is now working on balancing out its newest online shooter game "Overwatch" after a highly successful launch on May 24. Some characters will get nerfed, and the first one will be the gun-slinging cowboy McCree.
The game has attracted millions of players across thee different platforms to join in on the online shooter fun, Game Rant reports. Now the game developer is moving on to the next phase: to make sure that these players keep playing.
In an interview with Eurogamer, "Overwatch" game director Jeff Kaplan confirmed that there will be major balance adjustments to be made in the game. The gun-toting hero's Fan the Hammer move can hurt even the toughest tanks, which makes this move overpowered for some.
"What we're looking at right now is his fan the hammer damage. We're going to reduce it," Kaplan confirmed. "It's a little too easy, so we want to bring the fan the hammer damage down, so he's still killing the squishies and the medium strength heroes, but he's less effective against the tanks."
Kaplan clarified, however, that the team has tested the new McCree build, and he will still be a valuable asset to the team, despite nerfing his Fan the Hammer move.
A buff might be on its way for mech pilot D.Va, but its type is still unknown. Kaplan said that the team is in "exploration mode" with D.Va, and is still unsure about what really needs to be worked on. Blizzard is still choosing between high damage or high survivability, but Kaplan said that the team would need a bit more time to figure it out.
Kaplan also said that while D.Va's buff might not take effect in the game soon, Blizzard is making sure that McCree gets nerfed as soon as possible. "McCree is causing a lot of concern in the community and we want to make sure they know we're responsive." the game director said.
Blizzard has not confirmed yet when the change will take effect. Stay tuned for more updates on "Overwatch" here.
