The tablet market has grown exponentially in the past two years, since the first iPad was released. Back then, Apple didn’t have any competition but not before long, Apple’s rivals started showing off their creations in terms of tablets, as the market expanded bigger and bigger in demand.
One of the top competitors for Apple’s iPad and, in general, any Apple products, is South Korean tech major Samsung. Samsung tablets are highly appreciated by connoisseurs for their design, technical specifications and affordable prices. At Mobile World Conference 2012 held in Barcelona, Samsung felt the need to enrich its product lineup and launched two new 10.1 inch tablets – the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. Both gadgets feature a 10.1-inch screen and have similar designs.
However, in terms of specs and features, the Galaxy Note 10.1 lords over the Tab 2 10.1. The Galaxy Note is 5 grams lighter and some millimeters slimmer than its almost-twin version, but has the big advantage of carrying Samsung’s famous S-Pen stylus to ease user’s navigation. Also, in terms of processors, the newer version of Note outruns the other one by packing a dual core 1.4GHz CPU (the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 features a 1GHz Cortex-A9 processor). Both the tablets pack 1GB of RAM and both run on the latest Android 4.0 version, the Ice Cream Sandwich.
In addition, the latest Galaxy Note 10.1 features a 64GB storage version, besides 16GB and 32GB options. However, Galaxy Tab 2 lacks 64GB version.
All in all, the new Galaxy Note 10.1 is significantly better than Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
