Seeking to grow alongside Facebook rather than through it, social gaming titan Zynga Inc. unveiled its own website on Thursday, aiming to draw more players and simplify the gaming process.

Contrary to popular belief, the new Zynga.com does not aim to distance Zynga from Facebook, as the collaboration between the two companies is mutually beneficial. The new website will still require players to log in via Facebook Connect, and any purchases made by players would still be made through Facebook Credits, with a 30 percent cut of the transactions going to Facebook.

“We wanted it to be as easy and seamless as possible for players,” commented Zynga COO John Schappert. “We think it’s complementary to Facebook.”

The new Web site will launch with five of the most popular games Zynga has to offer: CityVille, CastleVille, Words with Friends, Hidden Chronicles and Zynga Poker. The greatest advantage brought on by this change is that players will be able to “friend” other players without having to share their profile information. Creating connections called “Z Friends,” players will see only one another’s game activity and will be able to help one another complete game quests more easily, as most Zynga games require assistance from other players in order to complete quests.

For now, the relationship between Zynga and Facebook is symbiotic and mutually beneficial. The social network may have nearly one billion users, but Zynga brings great revenue as well. The gaming company was recently revealed to be worth $445 million in revenue to Facebook, which sums up to about 12 percent of the social network’s total revenue for last year. Meanwhile, Zynga gets most of its traffic and revenue from players on Facebook, but aims to grow beyond the social network and reach 1 billion players.
