Apparently, Facebook has been thinking more advance than usual. It came to light that the social network has been preparing in case it got booted by tech giant Google from its Play Store. According to a report, Facebook has been making a lot of contingency plans that will allow it to continue operating on Android in case that happens.

The social media is said to have been preparing its own services that will handle key services such as push notifications, in-app payments and app updates. Facebook, however, denies that it will follow the lead taken by third party solutions like Aptoide on curating its own app store.

It has also been reportedly testing ways on how to get consumers download their Android app outside of Play Store. It is also known that as part of these contingency plans, the social media reportedly signed a deal with manufacturers to preload its app onto their new devices.

Moreover, it has been found that Facebook even tried removing its app from Play Store as a stress test in an undisclosed market. The said test lasted for about a week and is said to have not affected usage of its service.

It was observed that most consumers just went through their browser, got the app from other sources or just used alternate apps. Hobbling certain features of the app also gave similar results; users solved the problem by merely using an older version of the app and the usual going through the browser instead.

Though this line of thinking by Facebook looks like a bit on the paranoia side, one couldn't say that the social network is wrong to make plans. It has been observed as of late that the tech giant and the social network have been coming closer to blows than usual, like how Google is trying to push its way into India, where currently Facebook is clearly in domination. Tensions are low for now, but who knows? Or there could be no war, but Facebook could be secretly planning on leaving Play Store.
