The long wait is over, and the hush hush can now be laid to rest as Nintendo officially joins the market of the smartphone gaming world. Nintendo, the once undisputable authority in video games has been facing threats from other companies for some time now. Rumors and talks have been flying that they should better join the smartphone gaming world as it is clear that the time of the hand held console games is becoming blurry while the smartphone gaming world shines brighter each time.

And for a time, Nintendo has been quiet, until earlier this year in March 2015, where they briefly announced that they will be developing their own smartphone games. Nintendo will be teaming up with Japanese developer DeNA Co., who has already published their own range of free mobile games like Star Wars: Galactic Defense which is currently popular.

After the announcement little has been known about the mobile development until Nintendo unveiled its first game created for smartphones this Thursday, October 29 in Tokyo Japan. The first game unveiled is called "Miitomo".

Miitomo is a communication app that will help users to interact socially, sharing personal facts and interests with each other. According to the company's statement, the game will allow players to create avatars called "Miis" that can use interact to another one. Nintendo's CEO Tatsumi, Kimishima said that the game will be free to be played but will have in-app purchases.

It is also just the first one of the five mobile applications that Nintendo plans to launch this coming spring. During the briefing, Nintendo said that one of these five apps might feature their iconic "Super Mario".

Earlier, it has been anticipated that "Miitomo" will be released before 2015 ends, but it was announced that that it has been delayed and the official released will be March 2016. However, the unveiling of the game and announcement of its delayed released has disappointed some of Nintendo's Investors and has sent their share prices to go down by almost 10 percent.

It remains to be seen if the games or apps will make Nintendo rise like it used to. One thing is for certain though, one has to wait until this coming March to see and test how good and exciting these games will be and if it will be able to rise and become as iconic as the legendary "Super Mario."
