Google is expanding their market reach to the middle-class sector with their introductory Android One phone, the Lava Pixel 1. The device is the brand's first Android One device which is currently being introduced in India.

Google has already introduced Android One in the Philippines and in India during the second quarter of the year but this is the first time they will be introducing their own smartphone with the Android One OS. The Lava Pixel V1 is their first Android One venture in partnership with an Indian manufacturer.

The Lava Pixel V1 is a powerful device on its own. It has a large screen of 5.5 in. HD IPS display. It is also run by the quad-core MediaTek MT6582 chip that clocks at 1.3GHz. With 32 GB internal storage, the Lava Pixel V1 has a 2GB DDR3 RAM. The memory can also be expanded by a micro SD for up to 32 GB.

The smartphone also has a premium design since it is featured in a silver case. Though, according to GSArena, the smartphone has a plasticky feel.

On GSMArena's review, the phone, though it runs with a MediaTek chipset, still performed a little bit slow. Comparing to its low-end competitors like the Moto G and Xiaomi Redmi Note, it still lacks in the power aspect of the device.

In terms of the smartphone's features, it has a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera which are already top advantages over the Lava's competitors. It also houses the latest Android v 5.1.1. Lollipop. The Lava Pixel V1 will reportedly receive Android updates as soon as Google rolls out one because of the settings of the device.

The Lava Pixel V1 is currently sold in India for roughly $180.
