Popular English company guitar amplifier maker Marshall Amplification will release its first Android-based smartphone named "London" this coming August or September. This is the first technology-related product that the British-based company will attempt to launch and the product was unveiled in an exclusive London gathering on July 16, Thursday.
Marshall Amplification's main line of business is manufacturing and designing earphones or headphones, aside from their well-known speaker cabinets and music amplifiers. Marshall Amp is quite popular for having a signature sound to their manufactured guitar amplifiers.
However, for the "London" Marshall product, the company collaborated with Zound Industries, an international company known for designing and developing headphones and speakers. Zion partnered with Creoir, a Finnish mobile technology company that specializes in creating a high-quality sound smartphone.
According to Creoir's press release last July 17, the president and co-founder of Zound Industries, Konrad Bergström, stated that they selected Creoir as their partner because they could meet the company's high standards. Also, Zound wanted to make sure they had the best partner to assist them in engineering the Marshall "London."
As mentioned above, the phone's main feature is its high-quality sound. The designers and engineers of the product used a dedicated high fidelity grade sound card by Cirrus Logic. In addition, they integrated an enhanced bass technology plus powerful dual speakers. The user can also record high-quality audio while traveling as the stereo microphone of the product has amazing noise reduction capability.
At the top part of "London," there are two stereo jacks that can accommodate two users, enabling them to listen to the same sound simultaneously even in different volume levels. The Marshall Amp smartphone also features a unique M-button which can provide easy access to any type of music player.
In addition, it can also playback FLAC files loud and clear to ensure that every music lover will appreciate the product even those who love oldies collections.
It has been confirmed that the high-quality sound smartphone can be purchased at the Marshall online store or in TeliaSonera shops. The new phone costs around $590 as reported by the Verge.
Nevertheless, not all are happy about Marshall's latest undertaking. Some believe that brands that does not manufacture handsets must cease manufacturing one. "London" might have a great physical appearance, but the critics questioned those who are planning to spend much just to purchase a smartphone which just simply look like an amplifier.
According to Alphr, the worst case scenario is that Marshall would cause damage to the brand that took many years and numerous expensive advertisements to establish.
