Acer has officially launched a new Iconia Tab 10 slate, aiming to deliver a good performance and neat entertainment experience without drawing a hole through your wallet.
The new Acer Iconia Tab 10, as the name itself suggests, joins the large-screen tablet market, rocking a 10.1- inch display but sporting a neat price tag of just $249. While there are cheaper tablets out there, the Iconia Tab 10's price is nonetheless quite attractive for the specifications it packs.
The tablet's 10.1-inch IPS LCD display features a resolution of 1920 x 1200, as well as the company's much-touted Zero Air Gap touch panel, which leaves a very small distance between the display module and the touch module. In turn, this helps achieve an impressive thinness overall.
Under the hood, the new Acer Iconia Tab 10 packs a quad-core MediaTek processor based on the Cortex A7, clocked at 1.5GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM. Other specs include 32GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 128GB, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, an HDMI output, and a 5,910 mAh battery, among the highlights.
On the software side, the Acer Iconia Tab 10 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat on board out of the box, but is upgradeable to Lollipop, according to the company.
The tablet should also be quite durable and easy to maintain, as it comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection to make its display extra resistant to scratches. Moreover, it also features an anti-fingerprint coating to ensure a clean screen. An aluminum rear cover, meanwhile, protects the back of the device. Lastly, the Acer Iconia Tab 10 also boasts Dolby audio technology, which means that it should deliver a high-quality surround sound audio experience.
All in all, the Acer Iconia Tab 10 is a pretty impressive tablet considering its $249 price tag, reiterating the company's commitment to building good devices with affordable price tags.
