Samsung's next-generation flagship smartphone should boast impressive front and rear cameras, if a new company blog post is any indication.

The company has already scheduled a special Galaxy Unpacked 2015 for March 1, ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC), where it is widely expected to unveil its new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge flagship smartphones. With just a few weeks away ahead of the big unveiling, the company is now teasing the photo capabilities of its devices.

In a new company blog post on Wednesday, Feb. 11, Samsung SVP DongHoon Jang, head of the company's camera division, highlights the great progress Samsung has made with its smartphones over the years in the camera department. Starting with the first Galaxy S all the way up to the 2014 Galaxy S5 (pictured above), Jang charts just how far the company has come, and how it remains dedicated to improving the camera capabilities of its devices.

"First and foremost, we at Samsung design and engineer our smartphone cameras to produce stunning pictures. We want to make the resulting images as close as possible to what you actually see with your eyes. Our relentless efforts to innovate as well as our ability to push the limits of physics allow us to develop and build compact smartphone cameras with no compromise in the overall functionality you would expect from a world-class smartphone," touts the blog post.

Jang further mentions a number of specific breakthroughs smartphone cameras have made in recent years, including HDR, phase detection autofocus, and other such tricks. As the post highlights, the rear camera of the Galaxy S5 was widely considered one of the best on a smartphone due to those features, as well as others.

Moving on to the front camera, Jang emphasizes the current trend for selfies, which has made it clear just how important the front camera is for today's smartphone users. Samsung has made significant efforts to improve the front shooters on its devices, and recently launched its Galaxy A series of devices with "monster" 5-megapixel front cameras. This, in turn, indicates that the next-generation Galaxy flagship smartphone should rock at least a 5-megapixel front shooter, if not an even more powerful one.

"We meticulously evaluate every single facet of our smartphone cameras by taking over 10,000 photos in every imaginable lighting environment for analysis. The same passion and dedication has been put into building the cameras for the release of our 2015 flagship model. It will be intelligent and do all the thinking for users, allowing them to take amazing pictures under any conditions, without having to worry about anything more than just pressing the shutter button," Jang further boasts.

"It will demonstrate just how far Samsung has advanced smartphone cameras, and once again will open the creative side of our users for new ideas and new possibilities."

Lastly, the post ends with the statement that camera innovation continues at Samsung, indicating that the 2015 Galaxy flagship smartphone will rock impressive cameras. Intrigued?
