Huawei's newly-announced Honor 6 Plus smartphone has stirred plenty of interest since its debut, but it seems it won't launch in Europe or other Western markets.

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus officially made its debut in China on Tuesday, Dec. 16, boasting a larger display and better specs all around compared to its predecessor. While the previous Honor 6 launched in several markets across Europe, however, the new Honor 6 Plus will be off-limits for European and other Western markets.

The news comes from FoneArena, which contacted Huawei and received the information from a company representative. The official didn't provide any details regarding the specific markets the Huawei Honor 6 Plus will hit, but suggested the smartphone will deal solely with Asian markets.

"Honor is driven by its consumers, the digital natives and, in Asia, the customer demand for phablets is very high so we developed the Honor 6+ to this need," the company spokesperson told FoneArena.

"However we don't employ an 'one size fits all' approach to our products and, in Europe where there is currently less demand for phablets, our focus at the moment continues to be on meeting audience needs with the high quality Honor 6 and Honor 3C devices," added the company representative.

The new Honor 6 Plus, also referred to as the Huawei Honor Glory 6 Plus, comes with a larger 5.5-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and packs an octa-core processor under the hood, with Huawei's own Kirin 925 chipset. Other specs include 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory of up to 128GB, and an intriguing 8-megapixel dual rear camera setup. The two cameras employ professional-grade ISP technology and algorithms in order to capture 13-megapixel images with nearly double the light of a single sensor. At the same time, this camera setup also boasts an amazingly fast autofocus that takes just 0.1 seconds.

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus comes with Android 4.4.4 KitKat on board, alongside the Emotion 3.0 user interface (UI), while a 3,600 mAh battery keeps things up and running.

Shipping is slated to begin next week, but it seems the device won't see the wide availability many were hoping for. Huawei might change its mind at some point in the future and decide to offer its new Honor 6 Plus in Europe and Western markets as well, but it's not very likely.
