The top-notch Motorola Droid Turbo smartphone now has a new color option en route, with a blue avatar coming soon on Best Buy.

The Droid Turbo smartphone available exclusively through Verizon Wireless in the U.S. has stirred lots of interest since its debut, boasting high-end specs and features worthy of a flagship device. The Verizon Droid Turbo launched recently in black and red color options, but it now seems that it's about to get a new paint job - blue.

A blue Motorola Droid Turbo now appears on Best Buy's official website, although it's not available for purchase just yet. The retailer lists this option as coming soon, which means that it should go live in the next few days.

This new Droid Turbo model will be available at the same price point, sporting a $199.99 price tag when agreeing to sign a two-year service agreement with Verizon Wireless. Alternately, the smartphone is also available outright, but it will cost a hefty $699.99 off-contract. The blue model of the handset will likely be available only as a Best Buy exclusive, although this is not confirmed for now.

Aside from the new color option, the Verizon-bound Motorola Droid Turbo remains unchanged in terms of specifications compared to the original model. This means that it boasts the same 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with an impressive QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels at 565 pixels per inch (ppi) and packs the same quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor under the hood, clocked at 2.7GHz and paired with Adreno 420 graphics and 3GB of RAM.

Other specs of the Motorola Droid Turbo include 32GB or 64GB of internal storage capacity, a 21-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, a 3,900 mAh battery, and Android 4.4 KitKat on the software side. Connectivity options include 4G LTE with XLTE support, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, and microUSB.

As previously mentioned, the Droid Turbo is exclusive to Verizon Wireless in the U.S., but Motorola has also launched an international version called the Moto Maxx. This unlocked edition designed for the global market is aimed at Latin American markets for now, but is expected to hit wider availability soon. Unfortunately, however, it appears that the Moto Maxx will not be available in Europe. While the blue version of the Droid Turbo may be exclusive to Best Buy, the international Moto Maxx could get a blue color option as well sometime in the future.

For now, you can find the Motorola Droid Turbo in a blue avatar on Best Buy's website at this link, and it should become available for purchase anytime now.
