Lenovo officially unveiled its latest tablets, introducing 8- and 10-inch Yoga 2 models, as well as a 13.3-inch Yoga 2 Pro tablet with a built-in projector.

As expected from a Lenovo Yoga device, all three tablet models come with the unique form factor that made the Yoga line famous, with an integrated kickstand that enables a number of modes of operation for more convenience.

Yoga tablets so far have come with three modes: hold, tilt, and stand. The latest devices, however, brig a fourth mode to the table: hang. As the name itself suggests, this mode allows users to actually hang their Yoga 2 or Yoga 2 Pro tablet from a wall, for instance.

Lenovo Yoga 2 (8- and 10-inch)

The only difference between the two Yoga 2 tablets lies in display size, as one comes with an 8-inch display and the other sports a larger 10.1-inch screen. Otherwise, both models have Full HD displays and pack Intel Atom Z3745 processors (2M Cache, four cores, up to 1.86GHz), paired with 2GB of RAM. Other specs include 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory of up to 64GB, 8-megapixel rear cameras with auto-focus, and 1.6-megapixel front shooters.

Connectivity options consist of 802.11 b/g/n dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz), optional 4G for select countries, but not the U.S., WCDMA, GSM/EDGE, and Bluetooth 4.0. Extended battery life will deliver up to 18 hours on a single charge, while Android 4.4 KitKat rocks the software side. Also, for the first time, consumers can now choose to get the tablets with Windows on board instead of Android.

"Our second generation YOGA Tablets give users the freedom to do more - go hands free and hang the tablet from the wall with the new Hang mode; get unparalleled sound on a tablet with loaded audio features; and choose the operating system that's right for them - Android or Windows," Jeff Meredith, vice president of Marketing at Lenovo Mobile Business Group, said in the press release.

"With consumers being increasingly tech-savvy with tablets, they require more choices to meet their different needs. We are proud to support Lenovo in fulfilling these varying needs by providing lightning fast performance and long battery life through our Intel Atom processor, whether it is an Android or Windows-based tablet, or what the screen size and special features the tablet offers," added Eric Reid, vice president of Intel Mobile and Communications Group and general manager of the Tablet Business Unit. "Our Intel XMM 7160 modem is also providing consumers the option of ultra-fast 4G connectivity for their tablets."

Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro

The Tablet 2 Pro model shares several specifications with the 8- and 10-inch Yoga 2 models, but it also sports some considerable differences. Most notably, the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro tablet comes with a built-in Pico projector, which makes it stand out from the crowd.

With this projector, users will be able to take photos, movies, or other content from their tablets and project it onto a wall or screen in a WVGA resolution (854 x 480 pixels), complete with premium JBL sound system and subwoofer.

"Designed to focus on an elevated media experience, the YOGA Tablet 2 Pro has as its star feature a built-in Pico projector. The projector lets users turn inside walls into an instant TV or movie screen. Lenovo paired this premium technology for great video with unbelievable sound by giving the tablet a first - an 8 watt sound system with a subwoofer. These exceptional features along with a host of other technologies make the YOGA Tablet 2 Pro like no other tablet," boasts the press release.

The Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro also comes with a 13.3-inch IPS display with a stunning QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels). The rest of the specifications are virtually identical to the standard 8- and 10-inch Yoga 2 tablets, meaning an Intel Atom Z3745 processor (2M Cache, four cores, up to 1.86GHz), 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 1.6-megapixel front shooter. The Pro model, however, comes with double the internal storage at 32GB, as well as microSD support for additional memory of up to 64GB. Extended battery life will deliver up to 15 hours on a single charge. Connectivity options include 802.11 b/g/n dual-band Wi-Fi, optional 4G (in select countries, but not the U.S.), WCDMA, GSM/EDGE, and Bluetooth 4.0. On the software side, the slate runs Android 4.4 KitKat.

For the Yoga 2 Pro tablet, Lenovo has also teamed up with Ashton Kutcher, who is now a Lenovo product engineer.

"The YOGA 2 Pro is the culmination of the most extensive research and feedback we've ever undertaken, and Ashton has been with us every step of the way, bringing new ideas to the table, challenging us and always advocating for users," said Jeff Meredith, vice president of Lenovo Mobile Business Group. "As a result, we've preserved the best features of the original YOGA Tablet - the modes and the long battery life - and now we've raised the bar completely with technologies like the projector that keep changing the way we think of tablets."

"Our vision for the YOGA Tablet 2 Pro was to create the best tablet on the market," said Ashton Kutcher, Lenovo product engineer. "To do that, we really looked at how people use tablets and what they needed for a better experience. The YOGA Tablet 2 Pro has got the best sound, a dramatically brilliant camera and display, a new mode, a projector and top processor, so I think we created the best tablet available. I can't wait for people to try it."
