Apple's iOS 8 is now ready for prime time and the company has released a guide on how to move from Android to iOS.

The guide in question appeared on the exact day that Apple released iOS 8, and just a couple of days before the company's latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are ready to hit consumers, as for now they've only been up for pre-order.

If the timing is anything to go by, it would seem that Apple is convinced that its latest iPhone offerings will prompt many smartphone users to make the switch from Google's Android to its new iOS 8. The guide aims to help users transfer their contacts and all of their data from Android to iOS, with comprehensive step-by-step instructions to make the process as easy and hassle-free as possible.

The new iOS 8 comes with a lot of improvements and new features aiming to enhance the experience and it marks the biggest iOS update ever, at least according to Apple.

Android and iOS have long been competing and they are the two major operating systems that dominate the mobile market. With its latest iPhones, which finally boast bigger screens and other highly-requested functions, Apple believes it can lure in more Android users to its platform.

"Ready to make the switch to iPhone? Here are some tips for moving your photos, music, documents, and more from your Android phone to iPhone," reads Apple's guide.

This section of Apple's support pages, aptly titled "Move content from your Android phone to iPhone," offers a number of comprehensive guides to help facilitate the switch, instructing users on how to transfer things such as contacts, content, and calendars. Apple also highlights some of the similarities between the two operating systems, noting that in some cases services such as Gmail are shared between the two, which makes the switch even easier.

When it comes to applications, however, things are a bit different. Unsurprisingly, instead of showing users how they can transfer any app content from one operating system to another, Apple simply tells users that they should visit the App Store and install the equivalent of the app they used on Android.

"You'll probably find the apps you're already using on the App Store. Go to the App Store, search for the apps you have now, and install them," reads the guide. "Then sign in with your user name and password."

It remains to be seen just how many Android users will be dazzled by the new iPhones as to make the switch to iOS, but those who want to jump ship now have a comprehensive guide to make things easier, courtesy of Apple.
