The upcoming HTC M8 will reportedly sport a 5-inch full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
The HTC M8 is expected to launch as the HTC One successor, as the current flagship smartphone had the codename M7 before it launched. The upcoming HTC flagship is rumored to make its debut early next year, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014.
While HTC has yet to announce the device, the HTC M8 is expected to boast the same elegant metal design as the current HTC One flagship, along with high-end specs and features and HTC Sense 6.0.
Famous tipster @evleaks has now offered some more details regarding the specifications of the HTC M8. The specs are not confirmed, but @evleaks has a good track record when it comes to outing yet-to-be-announced devices and news in the tech world.
According to a new tweet from the tipster on Friday, Nov. 15, the HTC M8 will come with a 5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, run the latest Android KitKat out of the box and pack the quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor from Qualcomm.
No other details are currently available regarding the specifications of the purported M8, but the HTC One successor is expected to come with at least 3GB of RAM. Despite @evleaks' general accuracy with leaks, the CPU part sounds questionable. The Snapdragon 800 is very hot right now, but considering that the HTC M8 will launch next year, a faster processor may be more adequate. Qualcomm typically has a six-month release cycle, so a new processor should be around when the HTC M8 makes its debut.
Many see 64-bit processors as the future of flagship smartphones, and the smartphone market is getting increasingly competitive each day. Apple has already launched its iPhone 5S with a 64-bit A7 processor and M7 motion coprocessor, and Samsung is also rumored to be working on its own 64-bit chipset for the Galaxy S5.
If HTC wants to take on rivals next year with its upcoming HTC M8, the Snapdragon 800 might not be enough to do the trick. Keep in mind, however, that nothing is confirmed for now, so take all leaks and rumors with a grain of salt until HTC makes an official announcement regarding its HTC One successor.
