A new video shows off the latest Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, the company's non-stylus tablet device announced recently as the new-generation Galaxy Tab.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 also continues to make rounds as the South Korean tech giant's newest slate in the mid-sized tablet category, but Samsung made no official announcement in this regard.
The company did, however, officially announce the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 back on April 29, and a new video now touts the new tablet. The first, original Samsung Galaxy Tab made its debut back in 2010 with a 7-inch display and Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board, but the Galaxy Tab line came a long way since then. The newest member of the family sports design and abilities similar to the newest Galaxy Note series.
Some rumors indicated the tablet may arrive with Intel inside, more specifically one of the newer Atom series SoCs, according to some benchmark results that surfaced a few days ago. Other reports also showed the device is very similar to its predecessor in terms of display and processing abilities, while its form factor sees a thinner, sleeker outline.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 sports a 7-inch display with a 1,024 x 600 pixel resolution, 1GB of RAM and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board. The U.S. release date remains unknown at this point. The tablet will come in 8GB and 16GB internal storage configurations and will likely hit a number of mobile carriers in the U.S. The slate may or may not have a micro SD card slot for expandable memory, depending on region and/or carrier preference.
Samsung did not detail final pricing for the U.S., but the company will likely target a price range below that for the Galaxy Note 8.0, which could see a price around $250.
It seems that larger smartphones and smaller-size tablets are a growing trend in today's market, and the 7- and 8-inch form factor proved wildly popular for tablets. Samsung's previous Galaxy Tab slates enjoyed great popularity as most of its Galaxy products, and the new Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is expected to sell even better than its predecessors.
