By now you should know of the Ouya game console that has Android as the operating system of choice. It's a $99 device funded by Kickstarter and it is the biggest buzz in the land of Android gaming so far. With E3 2013 on the horizon, one would have expected the Ouya team to be on the show floor showcasing the games and the console itself, but it appears that will not be the case.
To be clear, Ouya will feature at E3, but not in the way you might think. Unlike everyone else, the Ouya team will make their E3 presence felt in a parking lot across from the Convention Center's South Hall. We're not sure why the Ouya team chose not to be inside. The most likely scenario here is that the team is unable to afford the cash for its own booth on the show floor, which is quite unfortunate, if true.
"OUYA will be present for all three days of the event, and we'll provide everything you'll need to put on a killer game demo. OUYA console...check, controllers...check, TV...check. We'll also make sure that you're fed and have plenty to drink while you're onsite because hydration and nutrition are key. :)
"You'll be able to demo your games to media, E3 attendees and random people on the street who want to see what all the buzz is about. We're going all out to ensure we get the best equipment, and we're also engineering it with the elements of an outside location in mind. We're confident this will turn out to be an awesome event that you and your teams will be proud of!" head of developer relations, Kellee Santiago said.
With the new Xbox and the PlayStation 4 destined to take E3 by storm, it is probably a good idea for the Ouya to stay as far away as possible from those systems if it wants to grab attention. Then again, it could also be a bad idea, but only time will tell.
