While the Nokia Lumia 928 is not official yet, the Verizon-bound version of the high-end Lumia 920 is not exactly a secret either.
Rumors about a Nokia Lumia 928 continue to make rounds, and a new rumor now claims the Verizon variant of the handset will come with some updated specifications.
Notorious tipster @evleaks tweeted a leaked rendering of the Verizon Nokia Lumia 928 on April 13, showing a black handset with Verizon branding on the front and 4G LTE on the back. A new rumor now comes with more details, claiming the Lumia 928 will not be just a copy of the Lumia 920, but will in fact come with an updated display.
While the Nokia Lumia 920 sports a HD+ LCD display, it seems that the Verizon variant, the purported Nokia Lumia 928, will boast an HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels.
Aside from the improved display, the Verizon-bound Nokia Lumia 928 is also expected to sport a more stylish aluminum casing and add a xenon flash to go along with the LED flash. The rest of the specifications will reportedly remain the same as the Nokia Lumia 920, including the dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz.
The news about a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display replacing the PureMotion HD+ LCD display comes from parts supplier ETradeSupply, which lists a display panel with Verizon branding as "OEM Nokia Lumia 928 LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly." This display is reportedly thinner and lighter than the display found on the Nokia Lumia 920, but it is also taller.
The Nokia Lumia 928 display features Gorilla Glass protection and appears with a $211.40 price tag. There's no mention of resolution, but it will likely maintain the 768 x 1280 resolution mentioned above. The mic, meanwhile, seems to be relocated below the screen instead of the bottom of the phone.
Keep in mind that the Verizon Nokia Lumia 928 is not official, which means that nothing is certain just yet. An aluminum casing, xenon flash and an updated, Super AMOLED display definitely sounds exciting, but take things with a grain of salt until the Big Red spills the beans.
