The Samsung Galaxy S4 is going to be available for people in the U.S. very soon and the release will be followed by another much talked about smartphone, Sony Xperia Z. Both the smartphones are coming with their own exclusive features, Galaxy S4 is going to cash on the goodwill and success of Samsung's Galaxy brand where as Sony's Xperia Z will revive the image of the company with its unique feature like water resistance.
Before you jump to any conclusion and make your mind to by either of the device, we give a quick comparison between the two recently launched smartphone that will help you decide better.
Display: Samsung has put in a lot of efforts to give its devices some really impressive display with its advanced technology and the same is shown in the Galaxy S4. The S4 comes with a 4.99-inch full HD SUPER AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1080x1920 pixel. The Xperia Z lacks but comes with almost same size display of 5 inches. The Xperia Z sports a TFT capacitive touch screen same 1080x1920 pixel resolution. Although the Xperia Z lacks the Super AMOLED technology, it comes with a shatter proof display protection and the display is also powered by Sony BRAVIA Engine 2 that gives the display sharpness and enhanced colors. Over all, Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z fight neck to neck in the department of Display.
Processor: Here comes the heart of every smartphone and the performance of your device very much depends on its processor. The U.S version of Samsung Galaxy S4 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 600 system on chip (SoC) processor supported by a 2 GB of RAM. The Xperia Z comes with Qualcomm's quad-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz supported by a 2 GB of RAM.
Camera: Sony is known for its world class cameras and this is the area where the Japanese company beats the Korean giant with a slight margin. The Xperia Z comes with a 13.1 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash light and autofocus whereas Samsung Galaxy S4 is little lesser than the Xperia Z and stops at 13 megapixel. However, as far as the front-facing camera is concerned, the Xperia Z again beats the Galaxy S4 that comes with a 2 megapixel camera with its 2.2 megapixel camera. On top of it Sony's Xperia Z camera is equipped with Exmor RS for mobile which is world's first image sensor with HDR video for smartphones. HDR for photos and videos captures natural colors in any light. HDR (High Dynamic Range) is an imaging technology used to capture clear photos against strong backlight. With HDR, the camera captures the same image at different exposure levels and layers them to create one optimized photo.
Whereas for Samsung the camera options doesn't end with just taking a picture, the South Korean company also offers an options first of its kind that allows users to use both the camera at the same time with a picture-in-picture or a split screen format.
OS: The Xperia Z runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. At the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S4 has gone a step ahead and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. As both the phones are powered by quad-core processors updating them to future versions of Android like Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will never be a problem. In the field of operating system, Sony Xperia Z will be a little late but this will hold an advantage with the users of Xperia Z that the firmware updates will always be more tested and reliable for them.
Storage: Here come the point that makes you worried when you want to store your pictures, videos and music files. Samsung Galaxy S4 will come in 16/32/64 GB internal memory versions; the phone will also have a microSD slot that supports a card up to 64 GB. The Xperia Z comes only with 16 GB internal memory and the external memory slot of the phone supports a microSD card of up to 64 GB.
Others: The Xperia Z is going to come with water resistance up to 1 meter and you can go on using it in rain. The device is also dust resistant. The Galaxy S4 comes with a much tougher and scratchproof Corning's Gorilla Glass 3.
Overall, both the devices are neck to neck but Samsung Galaxy S4 holds a very thin advantage over Sony Xperia Z. However, both the devices have their own exclusive advantages and you will not regret buying any of these two smartphones.
