Sony seems to have another Android powerhouse in the works, as details of a new Sony Xperia C670X leaked online.
The Sony Xperia C670X will apparently sport a 4.8-inch full high-definition display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Under the hood, the handset will reportedly pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and an Adreno 320 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).
The information comes from the Xperia Blog, which received the tip from the same person who recently gave it a screenshot of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for the Xperia Z. Nonetheless, take things with a grain of salt, as it is just a leak for now.
Other rumored specs for the purported smartphone include 2GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, as well as a 13-megapixel Exmor RS camera. The Sony Xperia C670X is reportedly due to launch in mid-2013 with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on board.
The tipster also provided the Xperia Blog with a render of the Sony C670X, but it's hard to tell from the picture if the handset uses aluminum or has a heavy glass design like the Xperia Z. The ear speaker seems similar to the Z/ZL, and the top of the phone appears to have a front-facing camera and a notification light, as well as light and proximity sensors.
In a later update, the Xperia Blog notes that the image is the same as the one used in the set-up guide for the Sony Xperia Z, although it is obviously not a picture of the Xperia Z. On the other hand, the expected release is still several months away, which means the final design may look different as the smartphone launches.
It remains unclear for now when the smartphone will launch exactly, or what it will be called, as the C670X is clearly a Sony codename for the handset. If these leaks and rumors prove to be true, however, the upcoming Sony Xperia smartphone will sport some exciting specs. It will nonetheless join a crowded and highly competitive market, as tech giants are constantly battling over smartphone supremacy. The Sony Xperia C670X sounds good, but it will have some big rivals to take down.
