Sony's waterproof Xperia Z has created quite a stir at the CES 2013. However, Sony hasn't yet disclosed the release date and price point for its 2013 flagship device, barring a vague hint of Q1 2013 timeline.
Now, Sony fans may have some good news heading their way if a Sony-authorized Polish retailer is to be believed.
The Polish retailer has listed the Sony Xperia Z as having a Feb. 18 release date. The Polish retailer lists that unlocked Xperia Z is up for pre-order and will cost 680 Euros, which is nearly 30 Euros more than the price listed by other European retailers.
Though the site notes that the expected date of delivery is Feb. 18, but adds that the date is "subject to change." Considering that this is an authorized Sony retailer, the date holds some credibility.
Prior to the launch of the Xperia Z, rumors were rife that the smartphone would hit the shelves within a few days of unveiling. Sony, however, announced at the CES 2013 that the official time frame for release of both the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL was Q1 2013. The company did not reveal the pricing or the regions where the Xperia Z would be available.
With a slew of flagship devices from LG, Samsung, HTC etc. slated to make an appearance soon, it is likely that Sony would make a push to release Xperia Z soon so that it can establish a strong foothold in the hotly-contested smartphone space.
