Sony's PlanetSide 2 is a huge game, in fact, it is largest First Person Shooter MMO ever created, which is why it is only available on the PC platform. With up to 2,000 players battling for their lives on a single map at once, things in PlanetSide 2 tend to escalate very quickly.

For all those who were unfortunate enough to miss out on the Beta, PlanetSide 2 became fully available on Nov. 20. The game is free to play, meaning, it doesn't cost the player a thing to download and begin shooting the enemy in their collective faces. With up to 2,000 players on screen, finding someone to rage kill shouldn't be a difficult affair, just hope your very first opponent is not a tank.

What is PlanetSide 2 all about you wonder? Let's break it down. The game is an MMO as well as a First Person Shooter, the game centers around a conflict of three factions as they battle it out for the purpose of controlling all territory on the planet Auraxis.

When a player joins the game, they will be asked to choose from one of the three factions. The faction chosen will be the one the player will fight for on the battlefield. Saying the word battlefield is a bit ironic because PlanetSide 2 borrows many elements of the Battlefield franchise by DICE and EA.

The list of factions per PlanetSide 2 are as follows:

Terran Republic

"An authoritarian government that leverages military might to maintain strict control over the colonial citizens. The Terran Republic is obsessed with the preservation of law and order and are thus seen by some to be an oppressive and dictatorial force, but many view the TR as the only hope for lasting security on Auraxis."

New Conglomerate

"The New Conglomerate operates as a loosely organized band of freedom fighters, vehemently opposed to the stranglehold that the Terran Republic has on Auraxis. Led by an unusual quorum of outcasts, industry titans, and pirates, the New Conglomerate is unwavering and prepared to achieve freedom from oppression by any means necessary."

Vanu Sovereignty

"The Vanu believe that only through the mysterious power of ancient technology can humanity truly evolve its next state of existence. They are an advanced and cunning faction, employing powerful alien technology on the battlefield. Their singular purpose is to uncover the secrets hidden away in ancient artifacts scattered over the surface of Auraxis and they annihilate anyone who interferes with their progress."

PlanetSide 2 features everything one would expect from a futuristic shooter. Low- to high-powered weapons, jetpacks, hover tanks, things that fly, and all other sort of madness to keep players on their toes as the battle wages on exist.

However, despite being a free-to-play game, some items in game requires real cash to purchase, so eventually, players will have to pay up if they want to play with the latest toys.

Gamers can download PlanetSide 2 via the official Web site, or on Steam.
