It has not even been two months since Apple launched its highly-anticipated iPhone 5, and rumors surrounding the launch of iPhone 5S in early 2013 have already begun to surface.

Digitimes reported that Apple will start a trial production of up to 100,000 units for the iPhone 5S from early December. Digitimes indicates that its report is based on an article in Commercial Times, a Chinese-language newspaper.

"Facing low yield rates in the production of iPhone 5, Apple has accelerated the certification processes for related parts and components for the iPhone 5S, the paper revealed," reported Digitimes.

Apple launched the iPhone 5 in September this year and for the last two years, the company has launched its new iPhone in fall. If Apple launches the next iPhone early next year then the company will divert from its iPhone launch trend.

iPhone 5 featured a bigger screen a faster processor and the latest iOS 6.

"Our belief is that the iPhone 5 was a significant leapfrog in functionality. The 5S is likely to be less significant in its changes. We're envisioning a 5S timeframe in the Fall of 2013," said Toni Sacconaghi, a senior analyst at Sanford C. Berstein. Sacconaghi also added "Clearly, Apple has pretty long product cycles that are planned out for several years at a time."

If Apple launches the iPhone 5S early next year would it come as a surprise? The company introduced its iPad 3 in spring this year, and within only eight months the company rolled out the upgraded version the Retina iPad, which is equipped with a faster A6X processor and a smaller 8-pin Lightning connector. Additionally, Apple also launched the iPad mini, a 7.9-inch tablet in October.

iPhone 5 owners have reported issues related to scratches on the handset, purple flare camera issue, and the slow swipe responsiveness on the touchscreen. iFans will hope that Apple addresses these issues in the next-generation iPhone.

It will be interesting to see how iPhone 5 owners react if Apple launches the iPhone 5S early next year. If you are an iPhone 5 owner, what improvements would you want in the next-generation iPhone? Will you upgrade to the iPhone 5S so soon?
