Rovio seems to be on track for the release of its latest Angry Birds Star Wars version. To give fans of the furious feathers a glimpse into how the game will look, Rovio has released a gameplay teaser trailer.
The upcoming Angry Birds Star Wars app is scheduled to release on Nov 8. Rovio has released an extended gameplay trailer of the app that comes to iOS, Android, Windows 8, PC, and Mac in just a few days.
The one minute nineteen-second trailer reveals a variety of Angry Birds in their new Star Wars avatar, showing off their pompous skills. Per the game's usual premise, the Bad Piggies are the villains who are from the Dark Side and like the Birds, they too possess lightsabers.
Previously, Rovio had also released a teaser video to introduce the characters. The trailer features a pig as Darth Vader while the Black Bird is Obi Wan. In the teaser video, both of them are seen with their lightsabers.
"This is the best Angry Birds game we've ever done. It's the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in a galaxy far, far away," said Peter Vesterbacka, CMO of Rovio. Vesterbacka further added "As a big Star Wars fan myself, I'm really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one."
The aim of the Angry Birds Star Wars game is to combine the fun of the classic Angry Birds and Angry Birds Space with the characters, stories, and Star Wars setting. The game features Angry Birds characters starring as the iconic heroes of the Star Wars.
"Both Star Wars and Angry Birds share the instant and irresistible appeal of hands-on fun," said Colum Slevin, Vice President, Head of Studio Operations for Lucasfilm Ltd. "People seem to instinctively know what to do when handed a lightsaber or a bird in a slingshot, so this is a natural combination."
Angry Birds has been one of the most popular franchises since its launch on iOS in Dec. 2009. Since then, the game has received many plaudits. Rovio will try its best to continuously get updates to the game. What's more, getting the epic space fantasy Star Wars onboard will improve the company's chances of attracting more gamers.
