Windows Phone 8 is showing signs of developer support with Gameloft promising to port 12 Xbox-enabled games to the platform. Previous versions of Windows Phone lacked any worth playing Xbox game, but thanks to the bump in hardware specs and the Windows NT kernel, things are looking up.
The most notable game on the list is Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, a game that is comparable to Call of Duty. Nothing on the list is particular new, everything here are games that have been around for quite some time; however, this is good for Windows Phone 8 because these games would never had made it over to the platform if it were not for the bump in hardware specifications.
The full list of titles is below:
- Ice Age Village
- N.O.V.A. 3: Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance
- Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour
- Shark Dash
- Asphalt 7: Heat
- The Dark Knight Rises
- UNOTM & Friends
- Order & Chaos Online
- The Amazing Spider-Man
- Fashion Icon
- Poker for Prizes
- Real Soccer 2013
All the above games have a form of Xbox Live integration, something all Windows Phone 8 games should have. Expect to unlock Achievements and increase the Gamerscore when these 12 titles hit Windows Phone 8 in the not so distance future.
What Microsoft need right now is for other well-known app developers to come aboard the Windows Phone 8 train and give their support. While the Marketplace is growing substantially, it is lacking popular apps that would otherwise have some Android and iPhone users making the switch. Several alternatives to these popular applications are available; however, not everyone likes change.
