HTC unveiled its J Butterfly smartphone for Japan last week, giving consumers a peek into the 5-inch device. Now, per reports, the Taiwan-based smartphone maker is set to launch a new North American flagship phone on carrier Verizon.

The smartphone, the report indicates appears to have the same specifications and design as the J Butterfly and will be called the HTC DLX. It would be Verizon's first One-series smartphone,

"Ladies and gentlemen, meet the HTC DLX for Verizon. A few rumored details recently emerged about this upcoming (and as yet unannounced Android smartphone, and tonight we're able to bring you the first pictures," stated the Android Central report.

Previously, rumors that such a device would possibly head to Verizon have surfaced on the Internet. Moreover, HTC had reported that the Japan-only J Butterfly's display would make its way to other markets as well. An xda-developers member "Football" had earlier released a limited spec sheet for the device. The member has a track record for disclosing authentic details for upcoming devices.

According to the Android Central report, the HTC DLX marks the company's foray into the 5-inch display category. The report indicates that the smartphone will sports a 5-inch 1080p HD display. The smartphone will sport either an 8-megapixel or 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper.

"The camera specs we have listed on our picture don't quite match up though -- ours says 8 megapixels, Football's leaked specs note 12 megapixels out back. (HTC's 8MP camera on the One X is so damn good, though, we might not care about one over the other.) The leaked specs and our pic align at 2 megapixels on the rear camera," noted Android Central.

Additionally, according to Android Central, their image only says "quadcore" and does not divulge any other additional details with regard to the processor. However, Football's leak indicates that the HTC DLX will pack in a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. The Android Central image also shows "2 gigabytes of memory", which is possibly indicative that the device will have 2GB of RAM. The leaked spec sheet, however, indicated that the device will have 1.5GB of RAM.

The Web site's source has claimed that the smartphone will have 16GB of on-board storage, which ties in with the leaked spec sheet's details. The HTC DLX will also feature a non-removable 2500mAh battery.

"Our source also says the back is reminiscent of the Droid Incredible 2, so figure soft-touch over polycarbonate. Visually, we're seeing the same dark red highlights Verizon has used for years, including on the camera housing, bezel and volume rocker. The rear speaker has the same design as the One X. Also of note: We're told the power button is centered on the top bezel, not off to one side like on most HTC phones. (It's not visible in our photos)," stated Android Central.

The HTC DLX will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Sense 4+ and will be 4G LTE capable, as indicated by the logo. The smartphone is expected to launch around Thanksgiving.
