Best Buy is taking pre-orders for both the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8X smartphones and is offering them at $149.99 and $99.99, respectively.

Those who are seeking to obtain a Nokia Lumia 920 on AT&T should be ready to pay $149.99 on a two-year contract, which is not a bad price for such a powerful device. The Lumia 920 is available in red, white, black, yellow, and cyan. On the other hand, the HTC 8X sports a $99.99 price tag and can be pre-ordered in purple.

Buyers can pre-order both handsets from Best Buy and AT&T right away if they so wish. Consumers waiting for the Verizon version of the Lumia 920 will be subjected to a six-month wait since Nokia and AT&T have a deal, which makes the smartphone exclusive to the carrier. It is not certain how this would affect Nokia, time will tell when the six-month period is over and the sales report is released.

Both the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8X are powered by Windows Phone 8, the specifications are as follows:

Nokia Lumia 920:

  • 8.7-megapixel front-facing PureView camera
  • 4.5-inch display
  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 32GB storage
  • Wireless charging
  • NFC
  • Wi-Fi®: IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n
  • 4G LTE

HTC 8X:

  • 8-megapixel front-facing camera
  • 4.3-inch display
  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB
  • MicroSD
  • NFC
  • Wi-Fi®: IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n

On paper, the Nokia Lumia 920 appears to be the better handset, but specifications alone do not determine a device's fortunes. For Nokia to stay alive, the Lumia 920 will have to succeed where the Lumia 900 failed, and that won't be an easy task to accomplish.
