Medal of Honor: Warfighter is possibly one of those games that will be forgotten, and not because of gameplay, but owing to the fact that the game's release date clashes with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Compared to the previous Medal of Honor 2010, this version is a huge improvement. Medal of Honor 2010 had built up a lot of expectations prior to its release; however, post release the game was unable to live up to the surrounding hype.

While the single player was good, it was too short, which was a huge disappointment for fans. However, possibly the biggest disappointment was the Multiplayer.

Developer Danger Close's Medal of Honor 2010 multiplayer's gameplay was lacking in crucial mechanics, which bordered on the bizarre. To illustrate, the gameplay enabled a player to use the weakest weapon and kill another player from across the map with relative ease, which was possible as the weapons did not have any form of recoil. The game did not require skill to achieve a kill, but gamers simply needed to aim and fire at the target.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter solves all of these issues in the multiplayer. Fans of the series will be pleasantly surprised at the improvements the developer has incorporated in the game.

The game makes use of the Frostbite 2.0 engine that powers Battlefield 3. Graphics here are good, but textures are well below par, something that could be fixed with a texture pack. Users may remember that Battlefield 3 had similar problems but a simple texture pack resolved the issue.

Due to the use of Frostbite 2.0, players will notice similar animations to Battlefield 3. Things like scaling a wall or going prone are reminiscent of Battlefield 3. However, gamers should not expect huge amounts of destruction as Medal of Honor: Warfighter does not entirely revolve on that premise. However, minor destructions like walls and cover chipping away are something players should be mindful of.

Weapon handling and sound are also similar to Battlefield 3 and, therefore, players should not expect a simple light automatic rifle to hit their target with pinpoint accuracy like in the previous version. However, the shooting mechanics have a minor problem i.e., it takes several bullets to take down an enemy, which means that players will be reloading their weapons frequently. Those familiar with Call of Duty's game mechanics would know that a single clip can take down at least four enemies before a weapon needs to be reloaded.

Additionally, gun customization plays a pivotal role in Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The developer has realized the importance of weapons in a FPS, and has enabled options that allow gamers to play around with any weapon of their choice. The options on offer make even Battlefield 3 pale in comparison.

The developer Danger Close attempted to fix the team play problem found in games like this by adding players in two-man squads called Fire Teams. This mechanic allows players to hit on their Fire Team buddy when they are out of ammunition or in need of health. Players can spawn on their Fire Team buddy, but this is only possible if the buddy is not in a heated firefight where he is in danger of being shot to death by the enemy.

A player's Fire Team buddy is always visible to them irrespective of his position on the map. Moreover, should the buddy be shot down, the player who took his life will be highlighted in red for a limited time and if the gamer kills this player, their buddy will automatically respawn.

Additionally, the Medal of Honor: Warfighter also has a class system, which comes into play after a player chooses a country to represent. The game doesn't have Kill Streaks, instead, Danger Close chose to go with Points Streak, which means a player does not have to kill anyone throughout the whole game to achieve a Point Streak reward, which is similar to rewards in Call of Duty, but more realistic.

The main problem with Medal of Honor: Warfighter, is the small text in the Menu, which is a problem with many games from EA. Even though some gamers may not have an issue with the small text some players would find it problematic. EA needs to fix this issue or the company may have problems selling this title to some gamers.

Overall, Medal of Honor: Warfighter is fun to play online despite its minor setbacks. However, due to the fact that the title is schedule for release on October 23, 21 days before Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 hit store shelves, it could have a difficult time gaining popularity and retaining fans in the long term.
