Resident Evil 6 may not have struck a chord with the critics, but the game is flying off store shelves faster than its predecessor - Resident Evil 5.

According to VGChartz, Resident Evil 6 is the top selling game on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for the week of October 6. The title is particularly doing very well on the Sony PlayStation 3, with 1,440,902 million units sold, while the Xbox 360 version sits behind with 946,144 thounsand units. This makes for a grand total of 2387046 million units sold overall in the first week. That's pretty impressive for a title that has been getting smashed to smithereens by critics.

Our own review of Resident Evil 6 pointed out the underlying problems in the game, but despite all of that, it was still a fun game to play. It would seem many gamers are going by their guts instead of succumbing to bad reviews. Lucky for Capcom, but now the company must get its team to remove the problems in the next installment and release a game that brings us back to the glory days of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4.

Current generation consoles are nearing their end, but that doesn't mean these consoles can't continue to show impressive strengths at a time when the next generation of consoles are looming ahead.

It will be interesting to see how the Nintendo Wii U fares when the console is released on November 18. This is a do or die for Nintendo, because as one can see, the Wii doesn't have a single title in the top ten list.
