iPhone 16 Will Solve 'Overheating Horrors' We Experienced From iPhone 15 With Improved Thermal System

The iPhone 15 Pro has had several problems with overheating which is well known and Apple attempted to solve with firmware.

But still, a lot of users have received the update, yet the issue with overheating is still present. We have seen that the problem has reduced in severity, but is still an inconvenience to have to experience.

Fortunately, there are some rumors that Apple may finally fix the problem for the last time with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro.

It looks like Apple is finally solving the overheating problem that's been a big headache for iPhone 15 owners. Now, it's touted to come to iPhone 16.

Two months ago, a photo that could be construed as a sneak peek into the iPhone 16 Pro included a metal battery shell. It also had a metal shell which seemed to suggest a new battery design that sought to eliminate the heating up problem in the successive iPhone models.

At the moment Apple has settled for a lighter foil overlay for the battery which is not good for managing heat. The metal shell, on the other hand, has the potential to dissipate heat better as compared to the plastic shell.

Besides this, there were reports highlighting two major hardware upgrades for the iPhone 16 that are supposed to solve the heating problem. They consist of the following; the first is the metal shell that has already been mentioned, and the second is the incorporation of a graphene thermal system.

Graphene is quite famous for its thermal conductivity, and the addition of graphene in the iPhone 16 creates a revolutionary shift in thermal regulation in the device.

Such reports do imply that Apple has not taken the issue of overheating lightly and in fact, it has come up with measures to avoid it in the subsequent models.

Why the iPhone 16 Pro's Overheating Fix Matters

As for Ryan Christoffel of 9to5Mac who frequently uses the iPhone 15 Pro outdoors, several overheating problems took place when taking photos and videos.

Modern iPhones do a lot of computational work behind the scenes when capturing images. A photo isn't just a photo anymore; it's processed with various software enhancements that add strain on the device's chip.

Unfortunately, this leads to performance slowdowns and overheating, especially in warmer environments.

The 9to5Mac writer said that this issue has caused multiple frustrations, especially when trying to capture important moments. He said that his handset refused to take photos because of the high temperature.

Moreover, Christoffel mentioned that a noticeable lag also appeared whenever he attempted to capture photos. Apart from that, some images he had taken became short, unwanted videos due to software glitches.

To his previous iPhones, these have been particularly felt on the iPhone 15 Pro.  For Christoffel who appreciates the concept of being able to 'shoot' high-quality photos without a glitch, this has been a major drawback of the gadget.

New Thermal System For iPhone 16

Unfortunately, Christoffel has come across a series of overheating incidences that he hopes with the introduction of a new metal battery shell and a graphene thermal system in the iPhone 16 Pro, will be a thing of the past.

If these new technologies will be in play, Apple's iPhone designs appear to just solve the problems that iPhone users have experienced for years.

Another important aspect is that if the iPhone 16 Pro is able to stay cool while it is busy carrying out tasks that require a lot of resources such as photo and video shooting then it would be a plus. The capacity to rely on the camera and not worry that the device might overheat at the worst time is a great improvement for the iPhone 16 Pro.
