Wuthering Waves, Kuro Games' newest video game, is a creative, recently launched PC game and an open-world RPG. With this update, the game is now presented as a post-apocalyptic adventure with core co-op gameplay, providing players with the ability to venture through the game's open world side by side.
This guide gets into detail about the various options for multiple players, and how these features are unlocked, as well as reasons for playing multiplayer.
Unlocking Multiplayer Co-op
In Wuthering Waves, players unlock the multiplayer co-op mode upon reaching Union Level 22. Union Experience, required to level up, is accumulated by completing various in-game activities, such as main story quests, side missions, and opening chests. To expedite the unlocking process, players are advised to focus on mainline story quests and utilize their Waveplate to earn large sums of Union Experience quickly.
Once Union Level 22 is achieved, players gain access to the multiplayer menu. Here, they can send invitations to friends or apply to join other players' worlds. The game's flexible system allows players to join friends' worlds regardless of their respective levels, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for both new and experienced players.
How Multiplayer Works
Wuthering Waves' multiplayer mode supports up to three players per session. In a full group of three, each player controls one character. If only two players are present, the host controls two characters while the guest controls one. This design ensures that gameplay remains balanced and engaging, regardless of the number of participants.
To join a multiplayer session, players can navigate the multiplayer menu and send a request to join a friend's world or invite friends to their own. If a player has enabled the 'direct entry' option, friends can join their world without requiring approval. This seamless integration makes it easy for players to collaborate and enjoy the game together.
While exploring a friend's world, players can gather materials and fight Echoes, enhancing their gameplay experience. One significant advantage of this system is the ability to collect materials from another player's world, which can be particularly useful if resources are scarce on their own.
Additionally, players can team up to defeat Echoes, with each player having their own loot instance. This means that every participant receives individual rewards, ensuring fairness and encouraging cooperative play.
Benefits and Limitations
The co-op multiplayer mode in "Wuthering Waves" offers several benefits. One of the most significant advantages is the ability to efficiently farm resources and Echoes. By joining forces, players can tackle more challenging Echo bosses and farm for Echo sets with desirable stats. The separate Echo respawn counters for each player mean that they can fight Echoes multiple times by switching between different worlds, thereby maximizing their farming efficiency.
However, it is important to note that some endgame content is not available in multiplayer mode. Activities such as the Tower of Adversity and Depths of Illusive Realm must be completed solo, as they are not accessible in co-op mode. Despite these limitations, the multiplayer feature significantly enriches the overall gaming experience, providing opportunities for players to connect, strategize, and conquer the game's challenges together.
Wuthering Waves has successfully integrated a co-op multiplayer system that enhances its already immersive gameplay. Through combining the importance of companionship and cooperation into the game-play Kuro Games has devised a style of game-play where you can play the game alone or with friends, and yet still fully enjoy it. Multiplayer ads would most probably keep players engaged in the hope to discover all that they can of the apocalyptic world in which the game is set.
