Motorola Mobility added DROID RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX to the DROID RAZR family on Sept. 5, marking its first major product launch since it was acquired by Google. Verizon has now confirmed that the smartphones will be on offer from Oct 18. onwards.
Both the smartphones sport a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive multi-touch screen with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and 312 pixels per inch (ppi). The screen is made from Corning Gorilla Glass and DuPont KEVLAR fiber. Both smartphones screen also have a water-repellent nanocoating to protect the device from liquid spills and splashes.
The smartphones boasts an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and autofocus. The device also packs a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. A Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor clocked at 1.5GHz powers the devices. The smartphones include 1GB of RAM.
DROID RAZR MAXX HD includes a 3300mAh battery when compared to the 2530mAh battery of the DROID RAZR HD. The DROID RAZR MAXX also has double the internal storage of 32GB as opposed to the 16GB on-board storage on DROID RAZR MAXX HD. The storage capacity of both the smartphones can be increased to a further 32GB using a microSD card. Both the smartphones runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).
"Both new DROID RAZRs run over 4G LTE, combined with Chrome for Android, meaning customers can enjoy blazing fast speeds that make downloading documents or surfing the Web a breeze. Verizon Wireless 4G LTE will soon be available to more than 245 million people in the United States. Also, both devices are Global Ready, so calling home or sending emails is possible from more than 205 countries around the world," indicates Verizon.
Verizon consumers can get the the DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR MAXX HD for $199.99 and $299.99, respectively, on a new two-year contract. The DROID RAZR HD will be available in black and white colors and the DROID RAZR MAXX HD will only be available in black.
Both the smartphone features high-end features; however, time will tell if the smartphones can attract consumers from other rival smartphones in the market.
