The Nokia Lumia 822/ Atlas Windows Phone 8 smartphone has now leaked in live photos, offering a peek at what to expect from Verizon's version of the Lumia 820.
The Verizon-bound Lumia 822 joins Nokia's new Windows Phone 8 lineup, yet very little is known about this device. The handset appears to sport a sleek design with a matte-type finish on the back, and a seemingly more rounded shape than the Lumia 820.
The "real life pictures" emerged on Wednesday, Oct. 10, courtesy of WMPoweruser. The Nokia Lumia 822 will presumably pack the same specifications as its Lumia 820 sibling. Aside from slight changes in the shape of the handset, the only notable difference between the 820 and 822 models is the 822's exclusivity to Verizon.
The Lumia 822 is also mid-range, sporting a 3.5-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480 x 800, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a front-facing camera for video chats. The Lumia 820 is an LTE device, and the tell-tale stamp on the 822's bottom suggests the device will blaze through Verizon's 4G LTE network.
Assuming it is identical specs-wise to the Lumia 820 and the T-Mobile Lumia 810, the 822 should pack a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage.
In addition to the more rounded design the Lumia 822 seems to sport, the handset also appears thinner than the T-Mobile-bound Lumia 810. This is not the first time the Verizon Windows 8 Lumia handset has been spotted. Earlier this week, the notorious tipster behind the @evleaks Twitter account leaked a render of a Verizon WP8 handset codenamed "Atlas," and the new photos fall in line with the previous leak.
Verizon, however, has yet to announce the handset, which means that for now these leaks are just speculation. It remains unknown at this point exactly when the Nokia Lumia 822 will arrive on Verizon, and the price is also shrouded in mystery. Considering that it is a mid-range handset with moderate specs, the price will likely be moderate as well.
According to WMPoweruser, the Nokia Lumia 922 will likely become available around the same time or shortly after the HTC 8X Windows Phone 8 smartphone, which is set to launch at the beginning of November. Judging by that timeframe, Verizon and Nokia should make an official announcement soon enough.
