After a protracted time of beta testing, Samsung has finally released the One UI 6 update for Android 14 to a broad audience. Updates for many other handsets will be coming shortly.

The update is currently rolling out for phones, such as the S22 series from last year. A redesigned fast settings panel, an enhanced native weather app, and many other improvements are included in this significant update.

A notable change many believe was long overdue is that Samsung has debuted a new set of emojis, saying goodbye to the ones they've been using since 2018.

Revamped Emojis in One UI 6

The previous generation of Samsung emojis was first released in the Samsung Experience 9.0, an Android Oreo-based device, over six years ago. It was instantly identifiable as being from Samsung.

Several people initially thought Samsung's designs were less clear than emojis from Apple, Microsoft, and Google. Some even went so far as to call them a little disturbing, especially the way the cheerful emojis' little, dark eyes seem.

Put more simply, there are a lot of interesting additions to Samsung's most recent software update, including new emojis and an improved weather app.

Six years after their introduction, the long-standing Samsung emoticons are finally being updated. Some found the older emojis to be a little strange-looking, particularly the happy faces with small, dark eyes.

118 new emojis, including 6 brand-new concepts

Emoji 15.1 is released with 118 new emojis, including 6 brand-new concepts, in Samsung's One UI 6.0.

Notably, there are 108 directional variations of the six people emojis and four family emojis with silhouette patterns.

Like One UI 5.0, this update uses Unicode's most recent emoji recommendations and supports a variety of People Holding Hands combinations from Emoji 12.1.

The newly released emojis fall under several categories: Smileys has vertical and horizontal head shakes, Food & Drink has a brown mushroom and lime, and other ideas have a broken chain and a phoenix.

Four family emojis based on silhouettes also feature various adult and child combinations.

The directional variations impact emojis that portray people using a white cane, strolling, running, kneeling, manual wheelchair users, and motorized wheelchair users-all facing right.

To improve their texting experience, Samsung customers can check out these most recent additions.
