Looks like "CoD" fans are in for a treat as Sledgehammer Games' hit FPS (first-person shooter) video game franchise is set to return to its roots with the duly dubbed, "Call of Duty: World War II."
The title will not feature futuristic elements such as space walking, wall running or double jumping, to name a few. The game developer is instead deviating its focus on more down-to-earth gameplay -- with the exception of the Zombie-obsessed co-op story mode, according to IGN.
'Call of Duty: World War II' Release Date, Setting & Other Details
"Call of Duty: WWII" is slated to hit the store shelves on November 3 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The next "CoD" title will be set predominantly in Europe between 1944 and 1945, basically heading to Germany after squaring off against Nazi reinforcements on Normandy Beach and past the grubby streets of France and Belgium.
"Call of Duty: WWII" centers primarily on the brotherhood of your squad, drawing inspiration from Steven Spielberg's "Saving Private Ryan." The movie was a major influence on other games including EA's "Medal of Honor: Allied Assault" and its console version dubbed "Frontline" (2002), according to Engadget.
"Call of Duty: WWII" is set for Nov. 2017 launch; however it is already up for pre-order. There are three editions (PS4, Xbox One and PC) currently up for grabs.
